HAI Surveillance in ICU

All adult general ICUs and combined ICU/HDUs in Scotland collect data on ICU acquired infections. Since July 2014 the methods and data definitions set out in the ECDC Protocol 'European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control. European Surveillance of Healthcare-Associated Infections in Intensive Care Units. HAIICU Protocol v1.0. Standard and Light. Stockholm: 2010, ECDC' have been used. Prior to this the HELICS protocol was used.

All surveillance data is collected in WardWatcher data collection software.

Wardwatcher HAI Manual to be made available here.
